Catch Up With Francis Before The Election
by Beth DalbeyCountdown to Victory: 1 Day
You have a few more chances to catch up with Francis Thicke, your candidate for Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, before the election Tuesday. He will cast his ballot early today
at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Fairfield, then set out on a two-day campaign tour with stops in Ames, Des Moines, Waterloo and Iowa City before returning to Fairfield Tuesday night for an Election Night Victory Party with supporters at 8:30 p.m. at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center
Please join us and pack the room in celebration of the hard work, late nights, phone calls and groundswell of support for Francis Thicke’s plan for sustainable food and agriculture production in the 21st century. Election coverage will be broadcast on the wide screen TV.
To find Francis in your area, watch the Thicke for Agriculture Facebook page and follow Francis on Twitter.
Remember, this is your moment, your time to make sure your values are represented in Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship policy. If you haven’t already, please to commit to not only vote in Tuesday’s election, but to bring along a friend. Don’t worry if they’re not yet registered, as same-day registration is possible at the polls.
Our get-out-the-vote are yielding great support for Francis. A 63-year-old independent voter said that in all her years of voting, no one has ever called her about the Iowa Secretary of Agriculture race. She said she’s voting for Terry Branstad for governor, but is not a straight-ticket voter. “I will vote for Francis,” she said. A voter in Ames said Francis Thicke is the only candidate he’s ever contributed money to, and he was happy to make phone calls on his behalf.
You can still join our phone bank. A sophisticated voter database allows us to target calls to people who haven’t voted early and who remain undecided. We’re already well on the way to turning out 90,000 key voters to ensure a win Tuesday, but we need a strong push in these last two days to accomplish it.
All you do is remind them to vote, and give them a couple sentences about why they should vote for Francis. You can sign up online here and we will send you more information on scripts and call lists.
We hope to see you all at the Victory Party Tuesday night.
