In an online poll by Marion County radio station KNIA/KRLS, asking whether listeners supported Francis Thicke or Bill Northey for Secretary of Agriculture, Francis won 72% to 28%. We all know online polls are unscientific, so we don’t take this too seriously and neither should you.
What this poll says is that 790 Iowans feel strongly enough about Francis’ new vision for agriculture that they want to express their support where others can see it.
Thank you, Thicke supporters. We are building this campaign across the state, one person, one farmstead, one community, one county at a time, so that we can win the poll that counts next November.

It isn’t surprising that so many people would support a new paradigm for agriculture, which is really an update of the resilient local food systems prevalent in the United States prior to the last 60 years.
